Support Me
I'm a queer neurodivergent person living in North Carolina. I've been physically disabled for most of my adult life with ME/CFS and unable to work with any regularity since 2016. COVID hit me hard; if I didn't already have CFS I would have gotten long COVID. I'm in the process of appealing an SSDI/SSI denial. I'm able to do a limited amount of freelancing but it's not enough and I live below the poverty line. Untreated ADHD helps none of this.
The Asks
I come up short every month and often have to choose between medicine and food. Financial assistance would be greatly appreciated. I can also use assistance from able-bodied people, and social support from just about anyone who'd like to spend time with me.
Financial Support
- Direct Support: Venmo | Cash App
- Amazon Wishlist - Healthy Jay - baking ingredients, vitamins, durable equipment, some food
- Target Wishlist - gluten free food, household goods, skincare
- Instacart Gift Cards. $100 is two week's worth of groceries.
- DoorDash Gift Cards, for those days when I just can't cook. It's about $25 for pickup from most places, $40 for delivery.
- GoFundMe for Medical Expenses (forthcoming) - eyeglasses, medical bills
- GoFundMe for Transition Expenses (forthcoming) - gender affirming clothing, binders, healthcare
Social Support
- People to cook and share food with. Social cues help me to remember to eat, and I love to cook for other people. Bring over ingredients, I'll cook it into a meal we can share together.*
- Body doubling for errands and outside the house tasks. I get overwhelmed easily on certain tasks, overexert myself on others, and having someone who can help me keep track of me really helps. I'm happy to help double for other people!
- Accompany on visits to social service organizations (currently: Social Security, DSS)
- Accompany me a couple times a month on errands
- Help me change my car's oil and fix a leak, take the spare to a shop to get it repaired
- Go with me to the DMV to get a new parking placard
- Help me get a new social worker
- Recommendations to a social support agency for disabled and/or autistic people, food pantries that aren't attached to churches, low cost/free sources of optometry.
- Small freelancing jobs. It's a little outdated, but check out my professional site for a taste of what I can do. Literally no job is too small, and I will work for trade. I also offer a host of skills along the lines of online research, including deep and dark web. Forthcoming: a post about the work thing.
